The ‘Village’ ski run

In poor weather conditions there is nothing to be gained from stubbornly remaining in the clouds on the summits: Méribel Alpina offers several attractive alternatives to allow you to enjoy the ski area in any weather conditions. The very easy Villages ski run will take you past the pretty villages of Chandon, Vanthier, Le Cruet and Les Allues, villages which will charm you with their typical mountain style. This is a delightful run that won’t overtax you. Why not bring a picnic? The setting is ideal.

Off-piste to Brides-les-Bains

To enjoy the off-piste route to Brides-les-Bains you don’t need to be an expert freerider, just a reasonably experienced skier accustomed to ungroomed snow. This unmissable route with its 2100m vertical drop will take you through the tranquil Altiport forest and past the picturesque hamlets of le Plantin and Biollay.

Note: this route is only practicable for a few days each season, usually in January, as it required excellent snow cover.

Vertical drop: 2100m if starting from the Saulire summit

Arrival point: Brides-les-Bains


Lift: Olympe gondola to return to Méribel.

La Mauduit

A fast, steep and technical piste, perfect for thrill seekers and speed lovers. Formed like a competition piste, the Mauduit is often used by the French Ski School for race training. It is terrific fun for those who love speed and steep slopes.

Lifts: Saulire gondola, Combe draglift.

La Face and Gélinotte

La Face black run is steep and difficult – and for good reason: it was here that the Women’s Downhill competition was held during the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games. If you are a good skier who likes to follow in the footsteps of champions, you’ll relish this skiing challenge. Finish on the blue ski run Gélinotte to rejoin la Chaudanne.

Le Pic Noir

This peaceful, tucked away ski run has been re-profiled to make it easier. It winds partly through forests to give you an agreeable and picturesque route away from the crowds. The starting point on Col de la Loze offers a fabulous panorama of the valley.

Le Blanchot

 

The purpose of the Blanchot piste is help you to enjoy yourself and progress without fear or frustration. With gentle slopes, a modest drop and sufficient width for making those first turns, this is the perfect slope for all beginners. Alongside runs a series of whoops (snow humps) to allow the more adventurous to enjoy some steeper inclines, and who knows, perhaps discover a new vocation?
