Improvements to Méribel Alpina’s ski area for winter 08/09

You may have wondered what a ski lift company actually does during the summer ...

You might have assumed that, like Aesop’s grasshopper, we sing all summer long, with our feet up, lazing in the sunshine with a pina colada. Or perhaps we hibernate in a burrow through the summer, disturbed only by the occasional marmot’s whistle, waiting for the first snows to falls?

In fact, neither of these ideas is remotely accurate. A ski lift company is more like the hard working ant, toiling all summer so that next winter you can enjoy the type of skiing you dream of.

Renovated ski lifts, re-shaped pistes and even better snow cover, all these works are undertaken for your greater pleasure and enjoyment.

Hence, Méribel Alpina has prepared for you beautiful new and comfortable cabins on the first section of the Tougnète lift.

At the mid-station you will surprised to find an entirely renovated lift station. From here, why not take the Faon piste which has been re-shaped to make it easier and more fun? A little lower down, our Moon Park has also been totally refashioned and moved to its new position on the old Grive piste.

On the Saulire side of the valley we have worked on re-shaping the Hulotte piste so that it can stay open until later in the season. The narrow path section of the Chamois piste has been widened as has the start of the Blanchot beginners’ piste.

So, as you will see, there are as many improvements to our pistes as to our lifts.

But all this effort would be in vain without good quality snow cover. That’s why we have increased the number of our snow cannons, most notably on the Biche piste up to where it joins the Saulire, and also on the Moon Park.

Finally, to help you find your way around these new developments, the signage on the Tougnète side of the valley has been entirely replaced.

We look forward to seeing you soon at Méribel Alpina !
